13 miler lol

Posted by Jake Demian on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, In : Long Day
Today we (Me Bill ben tyler mike harris blevins kendig dan alex jared matt and kyle) "winged it" and just ran wherever we wanted to.  Finally my stomach didn't hurt, the first run since saturday.  We ran all the way down the train tracks to reynolds road and just winded through backyards and the backs of stores all the way to plains, then we just ran the half mile path into the back of veterans.  The last 5 or 6 miles we were at or under 7 flat pace, and it felt good.

stomach fail

Posted by Jake Demian on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, In : Blah
These last few days i haven't updatedmy runningblog here very much because i was more concerned about the well being of my stomach which had ben hurting a lot.  On sunday i ran the johnnycake jog and my stomach hurt quite a bit during the race and i ran 28:38, not horrible but nowhere near what i'm capable of.  Then the next day i ran 16.11 miles (our first run that was actually 16 miles, even over).  The whole run my stomach hurt really bad, but towards the end, maybe the last 4-5 miles or s...

today's run...AND MORE!

Posted by Jake Demian on Friday, July 17, 2009, In : Long Day
Today's run was an easy 10 miler.  We ran with a big group, so i don't feel like thinking of each person.  At the beginning my legs felt a bit heavy, and my legs leg was a bit swollen feeling / numb.  Eventually that went away.  As the run progressed, a run in which we made up the route as we went along, my legs felt lighter and lighter, and in the end we (me ben ryan and harris) were going pretty fast, and jokingly mimicing ryan's god-like long stride.

You may be wondering why i said AND MORE...

hell's hollow

Posted by Jake Demian on Friday, July 17, 2009, In : Easy Day
Today's (July 16) run was quite eventful and painful.  We ran from hell's hollow, and pretty much weren't doing much but skipping rocks and making bridges accross the river out of rocks.  It wasreally fun though. Eventually, there was a point where i was really far ahead of everyone trying to cross the river, and i slipped on a large rock and my full bodyweight landed right on the bone in my left thigh, and that hurt really bad.  I had to limp up 260 stairs and close to a half mile back to ou...

another 16 miler

Posted by Jake Demian on Thursday, July 16, 2009, In : Long Day
Today we ran the same 16 mile course as we have been.  At first, i felt really physically tired and mentally tired from running less than 12 hours ago.  The first 3 or so miles were just me in a sort of dase not really focusing on anything besides how much I would probably struggle with the run. I even had to turn off the setting on my watch that tells me our pace and distance because i couldn't stop looking at it and dreading the run.  Eventually we turned onto Jackson, and the run was silen...

another two-a-day

Posted by Jake Demian on Wednesday, July 15, 2009, In : Two-a-day
Ourfirst run this morning was really easy, we went to the Perry YMCA to run the old around the old Districts course. about a mile and a half in we were at the bottom of a monster hill and we stopped to skip rocks for like 10 minutes which was really fun.  I think im really getting better at hills, cuz when we started to go up the really long hill ben and i jokingly sprinted for half of it, only to realize it was taller than we thought, but other than my breathing (which really doesn't matter ...

winging it

Posted by Jake Demian on Wednesday, July 15, 2009, In : Long Day
Today (July 13, had to post it a day late) we ran 12.27 miles.  Unlike we normally do in the summer, we just ran anywhere and knew we'd go some distance between about 11 and 13, which is really nice.  I felt really good the whole time, and Jared surprisingly kept up when some of the other expected varsity members fell back.  He even talked to us towards the end about what he thought he could do these upcoming cross country and track seasons.  At the end i looked at my watch and we were going ...

HUMID!

Posted by Jake Demian on Saturday, July 11, 2009, In : Recovery Day
Ran by myself today from my house.  I just ran as slow as i felt i needed to and i needed 3.5 miles to get 63 for the week.  It was really really humid today though and since i don't take my inhaler for super short runs that made the run miserable.  Good thing it was only an easy recovery day or i probably would have died lololol.  I started out at like 9:30 pace and finished at 6:30 pace so i guess i felt better the longer i ran.

16 miler...omg

Posted by Jake Demian on Friday, July 10, 2009, In : Long Day
Today's 16 miler was pretty tough. Ran with Bill Ben Tyler Harris Greg Kendig Dan Molinar (Jared Ryan and Kenny for the first 3.5 miles).  I felt decent the first few miles but i had my doubts as to whether or not id feel better after awhile of running.  I started to feel kinda bad on heisley with the two big hills, but i told myself it was just the hills and once they're behind me ill be fine, which was true.  Once we turned onto jackson i felt much better, and Jared (freshman coming in) Ken...

Took awhile

Posted by Jake Demian on Tuesday, July 7, 2009, In : Long Day
Today, we (Me Bill Tyler Matt Ben Harris Kendig Dan Molinar Dre Alex Max Jared Kristen and Jessie) ran the reverse zimmerman trail loop, adding on the 1 mile extension that is usually after the woods part of the marsh loop, and at the enterance to zimmerman we first ran down to the beach then back before running the ~4 1/2 miles back to vaterans park.  It was a really easy run, and i felt pretty good the whole time.  For a little bit before the run and the day before for sure, my shin was bug...

Aurora 5k 2009

Posted by Jake Demian on Saturday, July 4, 2009, In : Race
This was my first 5k in a long time.  On the warm up, my legs felt a little bit tired and heavy, but i just shrugged it off and told myself that it was only because of the long drive and because it was really early in the morning, even though i knew some of it was just tiredness from 2 weeks of straight running with no break.  Anyways, after the warmup, I stripped down to my racing shirt and neon green racing shorts and stretched while talking to ben, tyler and ryan (senior who won't be on th...
